First decide whether you are matching existing sizes or redesigning the overlay
If the current doors fit properly and the hinge system is being retained, the existing finished door dimensions are a useful starting point. Measure the door itself, not just the cabinet opening. Measure width first, then height

Replacement doors are most useful when the boxes are structurally sound and the layout still works. Check for water damage, loose cabinet construction, severe out-of-square conditions and damaged hinge mounting areas.
