Choose the right corner cabinet type

Start with the corner solution before filling the adjoining cabinet runs. The correct choice depends on the usable corner space, adjacent cabinet widths, door access and any required fillers.

Do not choose a corner cabinet from nominal wall length alone. Confirm the complete corner geometry and appliance/door clearances first, then size the cabinets that continue away from the corner.

Blind corner vs. Lazy Susan: what changes in the plan?

A blind corner and a Lazy Susan solve the same difficult kitchen zone differently. ShopKitchens currently carries 42- and 45-in. base blind-corner cabinets, while its base Lazy Susan and easy-reach corner cabinets are offered in 33- and 36-in. widths. These are cabinet sizes, not interchangeable opening requirements: the complete corner footprint and adjoining run must be checked for the specific cabinet selected.

For a blind corner, verify the blind allowance, door access, the adjoining cabinet position and any filler needed to prevent door or drawer interference. For a Lazy Susan or easy-reach corner, verify the full corner footprint and that both adjoining runs leave the required access. Do not substitute one corner type into a finished cabinet list only because its nominal width appears to fit.

Plan the corner before the rest of the cabinet run

Corner cabinetry is a fixed planning point. Establish the corner cabinet first, then account for fillers and trim, fixed appliances and tall cabinets before using standard base cabinets or wall cabinets to complete the remaining run. This reduces the risk of a cabinet list fitting the total wall measurement on paper while leaving insufficient door, drawer or appliance clearance at the corner.
